     Often we hear from a family interested in a Coton de Tulear with the following statement "I don't want a show quality Coton de Tulear, I only want a pet/companion Coton de Tulear."

      Reputable Coton de Tulear breeders should have only one goal --- the betterment of the breed.  This does not mean that each puppy in a litter is show quality but that is what we strive to complete.  Additionally, this does not mean that some puppies are sub-standard or poor quality.  Not many people want to invest the time, effort and expense involved with owning a show animal.  You must be devoted to the animal beyond normal care and love. 

     If you are looking to adopt a Coton de Tulear you should already know what the breed looks like.  If not, we are more than willing to supply you with contacts of the kennels where we imported our Coton de Tulears.  Just a few facts -- the base color of the Coton de Tulear coat is always white.  As well the Coton de Tulear is not petite, they are a hardy breed.  On few occasions a breeder may have one small Coton de Tulear in a litter.  The 10-15 pounds is normal limits for the breed. There are several exclusive Coton de Tulear clubs in the United States, but we do not belong as we do not agree with their intense need of control, such as prospective individuals completing long and rather nosey applications about your family, where you work, the size of your home --- etc.  We feel that we can determine another person interest in the breed as a companion and we do ask a few questions -- but not a application.  As well the Coton de Tulear clubs allow only the mating of Cotons within the club - this is negative in the fact that it encourages the mating of relatives, which we are against.

     We are retired and have four Coton de Tulears in our life, as well our son has three females that we have access to his Coton de Tulear puppies from his wonderful girls.  None of our female are related to our male [ stud ].  No mating of relatives.
